It is located just to the bottom of the last star in the handle of the Big Dipper, Alkaid. It’s companion galaxy, NGC 5195 is the galaxy to the right which is interacting with M51. It is 31 million light years from Earth and shines at a magnitude of 8.4 making it a hard to see object with binoculars but easily spotted with any telescope. This is a reintegration from 25 February with a few more hours added. As a result, the Hydrogen Alpha rich star forming areas in the spiral arms are much easier to see. The more data I can gather the more detail you are able to see.
